Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
Surya is designed so that your data never has to leave your device. This policy explains the few things the app touches, and why.
What we collect
Nothing. Surya has no servers, no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no accounts and no crash-reporting service. The app makes no network requests for its core features.
Location
The app asks for your location only to compute an accurate panchang — sunrise, sunset, tithi and Rahu Kāla for your city. That calculation happens on your device using published astronomical algorithms.
Your coordinates are stored locally on your device (in your private app group, so widgets can read them). They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can refuse location permission and use the default city (New Delhi), or change it any time in system Settings.
Data stored on your device
- Your chosen city / coordinates
- Your app language preference
- Japa counter tallies per mantra
- Widget settings
All of this lives in your device's local storage and is removed when you delete the app. It syncs nowhere.
Content
The Bhagavad Gita English translation included in the app is Swami Sivananda's public-domain work, published by The Divine Life Society. Sanskrit text and transliterations come from public-domain sources.
Children
Surya contains no age-restricted content, collects no data, and is safe for all ages.

Changes
If a future version ever adds an opt-in feature that transmits data (for example, optional cloud backup), this page will be updated before that version ships, and the App Store privacy labels will be updated with it.
